Bruce Grove Youth Space Fun Fest

Tuesday 27 September 2016

On Friday 29 July Bruce Grove Youth Space opened its doors to the Tottenham community for its Fun Fest Event. The BGYS team are part of the Early Help Service. Working with the Bruce Grove Safer Neighbourhood team they created an event that was fun for the community as well as promoting activities for young people.  It was a success and over 100 residents from the local community attended and were able to enjoy the facilities at BGYS, including the beautiful garden.

Children and young people engaged with the police; enjoyed looking inside the police carrier, turning on the blue lights and trying on the public order kits.  Similarly, young people were able to learn about fire service, have a go inside the truck and hear about experiences from local fire fighters.

Bruce Grove Youth Space offers a range of activities during the week that encourage and motivate young people to engage in healthier lifestyles; and this occasion was no different.  Families enjoyed health and wellbeing promotion activities such as the smoothie bike, which uses peddling energy to make delicious healthy drinks; a football competition playing alongside their local police officers; boxing activities and the chance to get active on a bouncy castle.

Gill Gibson, Assistant Director for Early Help and Prevention commented that it was:

"Great to see the positive vibes with the community at Bruce Grove Youth Space

"The event was all about local services, and Bruce Grove SNT and the Youth Space Teams would like to thank the following organisations: Fire Brigade, Police Cadets, Victim Support, Haringey Boxing Club, Blooming Scent."
